Skyway Secures The Ocean Race 2027 Stopover for St. Pete-Clearwater

A statement from CEO Rob Britts on the convergence of elite sport, advanced materials, and autonomous innovation on Florida’s Gulf Coast.

We’re incredibly proud to share this milestone.

Over the past year, Skyway has led the architecture and execution behind positioning and securing this historic stopover for St. Pete-Clearwater, aligning a complex network of partners across sport, science, infrastructure, and global logistics.

The Ocean Race is more than a race. It is a global platform for advanced materials, high-performance systems, and real-world engineering under extreme conditions. It showcases the very disciplines that will define the next generation of maritime and autonomous innovation.

That is why this moment matters to Skyway. Our work sits at the intersection of materials, autonomy, and complex systems, and this announcement reflects something much bigger than a destination. It signals the rise of Florida’s Gulf Coast as a serious center for maritime innovation, resilient infrastructure, and applied ocean science.

We are honored to be part of this effort alongside The Ocean Race team and excited for what comes next as elite sport, breakthrough technology, and regional impact continue to converge in St. Pete-Clearwater.

This is just the beginning.
